Approaching Leuven on motorway E 314 / A2 from Aken-Genk-Hasselt:
- Take Exit LEUVEN (no 15)

- Use the map (below) for further guidance to reach your hotel, or the Conference Center (indicated in red).

Parking is quite restricted in Leuven, and almost all parking has to be paid. We recommend the underground parking LADEUZE, Mgr. Ladeuzeplein, Leuven (see the map). The parking fee is 525 BEF / 24 hours.

From Brussels International Airport Zaventem (if you travel by plane)
- By taxi : A taxi takes about 25 min from Brussels Airport To Leuven. A single journey will cost about 2000 BFr (more at night).
- By train : From Zaventem, you can go to Brussel-North by train (2-3 trains per hour, 15 minutes), from there you can go to Leuven by train (2-4 trains per hour, 20 minutes). Please pay attention to the fact that you have to take the train to Leuven (directions Keulen-Eupen-Welkenraedt or Hasselt or Luik) and not to Louvain-la-Neuve (Louvain-la-Neuve is situated near Wavres and houses the French speaking equivalent of the Katholieke Universiteit). At the airport you can buy a ticket directly to Leuven (about 150,-BEF).
- There will be a shuttle service organized by us on Sunday, 10 Sept. between 12 h and 20 h. Watch out for the ICSST-2 sign. It would help us if you announced beforehand (to wim.dehaen@chem.kuleuven.ac.be) when you are coming so that we can organize the shuttles.

By train

Leuven can also easily reached by train: the main railroad linking Köln-Brussels-Ostend-London passes through Leuven (every hour). There is a train from Brussels to Leuven every half hour. One can also use the high speed train connections from Paris, Amsterdam, Köln (Thalys) and London (Eurostar) to Brussels and then switch to Leuven in Brussel Noord.

How to get to the conference centre or your accommodation

On this map of Leuven the conference centre (Mgr Sencie Inst. and Erasmushuis, indicated in red) can be found near the crossroads of Blijde-Inkomststraat and Maria-Theresiastraat. There will be signalization marks (ICSST-2) to help you on the way.
The railway station, in Dutch " station", is to be found at the top of the map (cf. the picture of a train) at the Martelarenplein. To go to the Erasmushuis (Faculty of Arts), where the registration will be, just take the Maria-Theresiastraat, the building is to be found just before the crossing with the Blijde Inkomststraat. (The Maria-Theresiastraat is the street just between the Bondgenotenlaan and the Tiensevest). The lectures themselves will be in the Mgr. Sencie institute just across the Erasmushuis.

Registration

Registration (14-20.00h) will take place on Sunday, in the main building of the Faculty of Arts ("Erasmushuis"), Blijde-Inkomststraat 21. This is also the place where the keys for the university rooms have to be collected.
People arriving on Sunday are residing in the Sedes Sapientae residence (marked in blue on the map, near to the city park). There will also be a possibility to register at the permanence desk (Erasmushuis) on the following days of the conference, during conference hours.

Note : Early arrivals

Many people will prefer to arrive on Saturday because of cheaper flight tickets. There will be no shuttle service or registration desk on Saturday. So, people are left to their own resources to reach Leuven. The participants who booked a room in university residence will reach this place by themselves (Residence Holleberg, see the site marked in blue on the map near to the Schapenstraat), and a permanence will be there to hand over the key. Again, it would help us if you could announce when exactly you will be arriving (wim.dehaen@chem.kuleuven.ac.be).
There will be no breakfast service on Sunday morning. Participants are advised to try their luck in the pubs/restaurants of Leuven. Many serve an excellent brunch on Sunday Morning. On the other days, breakfast is served in the university restaurant Alma 2 (marked in purple on the map) between 8.00-9.00 a.m. This is also the place where lunches are served.
